This is a funny business. I don’t know what to do when I hear the odd sales person or sales manager complain about the language some customers use during the sale, except laugh. My friends, that’s simply the way some people talk. Get used to it or get out. Actually, if you would learn to not just get used to it, but actually use it to your advantage that would be ideal. I’m not talking about a customer that is swearing AT you, repeatedly. I’m talking about customers that swear WITH you or use vulgar language when talking with you. Believe it or not, but it’s a sign that they are comfortable with you and maybe even like or respect you in their own weird way. So, let’s stop worrying about how the world should be, and start dealing with the world the way it is. You cannot be an empowered individual if you let words hurt and offend you. They are only words. In fact, if you throw in just one little off color word at the right time, like the word sh–, in a small innocent way, maybe pretending you just hurt your finger “Oh sh–! I think I broke my nail!” you can instantly win over those clients, as they now feel comfortable with you. Or, you could of course, put on an unapproving face and send them over to me to close them. No split on this one. Have a good weekend and make somebody smile today!
